We are seeking a talented Mid-Level Interior Designer with 3–4 years of experience working in a high-end residential interior design firm. This position reports directly to the Principal Designer and involves supporting projects while independently managing smaller projects from concept through installation.
This is an in-person, part-time position requiring a commitment of four days per week. As the candidate becomes established in the role, there may be an opportunity to transition to a hybrid schedule of two in-office days and two remote days, if appropriate. Flexibility in schedule is essential, as project demands and client needs may occasionally require adjustments.
The ideal candidate is organized, technically proficient, design driven, and capable of working independently with minimal oversight. They are ready to assume greater responsibility, contribute creatively, and continue developing their leadership skills.
Responsibilities
-Manage smaller residential projects from concept through installation under the supervision of the principal.
-Lead day to day communication with clients, vendors, consultants, and contractors.
-Develop design concepts, and presentation drawings.
-Source furniture, lighting, textiles, finishes, plumbing fixtures, hardware, and decorative accessories.
-Research and source vintage and antique furnishings aligned with the studio’s aesthetic.
-Prepare design presentations, specifications, schedules, and client documentation.
-Available for client meetings, site visits, installations, and vendor appointments.
-Track project schedules, budgets, and deliverables to ensure projects stay on schedule.
-Assist with procurement and oversee design selections through execution.
We’re looking for someone with excellent taste, strong technical skills, and the confidence to take ownership while continuing to learn. They should be equally comfortable contributing creatively and solving technical challenges.
Qualifications
-3 to 4 years of experience in luxury residential interior design.
-Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
-Experience with Studio Designer or similar project management software.
-Excellent understanding of furniture, lighting, materials, finishes, custom millwork, and construction detailing.
-Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
-Ability to manage multiple projects.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Strong design sensibility with a sophisticated understanding of scale, proportion, materials, and color.
Preferred Qualifications
-Autocad knowledge
-Experience with luxury furnishings and custom fabrication.
-Knowledge of high-end vendors, showrooms, and resources.
-Experience coordinating installations and managing procurement.
-Familiarity with the San Francisco design community and trade resources.
