Design Assistant / CAD Designer
Katie Sharpton Design is seeking a talented, detail-oriented Design Assistant / CAD Designer to join our team. This position will play a key role in supporting our designers through the development of technical drawings, presentation materials, and project documentation for high-end residential projects.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys the technical side of design, is highly organized, and has a strong eye for both drafting and visual presentation.
Responsibilities:
• Create and revise detailed AutoCAD drawings, including floor plans, elevations, lighting plans, cabinetry drawings, and construction details
• Assist in preparing client presentations, design boards, specifications, and other presentation materials
• Support the design team with project documentation, selections, and design development
• Produce drawing sets for client presentations, contractor coordination, and construction purposes
• Maintain accurate project files, drawings, and specifications across multiple active projects
• Assist with sourcing furniture, finishes, lighting, plumbing fixtures, and materials as needed
• Coordinate drawing updates and revisions based on feedback from the design team, clients, contractors, and vendors
• Help ensure project information is organized and communicated clearly throughout all phases of a project
• 1–2 years of experience in residential interior design or a related field
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
• Strong graphic and presentation skills
• Experience with Studio Designer is a plus
• Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment- we like to have fun!
This is a part-time position (10–20 hours per week) based in our Nashville studio. The ideal candidate will be available to work in person regularly, with some flexibility for remote work depending on project needs and workload.
