Effective Monday, July 28, Susan North will be the new Creative Director for Scalamandré, bringing more than 20 years of experience in high-end product design and creative direction to the position.

“Scalamandré has an amazing heritage and reputation in the interior design world,” said North. “It also has a wonderful archive of design that is an absolute treasure trove from which to draw. I am thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to create beautiful and exciting new product for such a prestigious brand and add to its legacy.”

North most recently held the position of Managing Director, New Business Initiatives at Thibaut, where she managed Thibaut Fine Furniture and also the development of Thibaut’s new Arcadia wallcovering brand. She also earlier held the position of Senior Vice President & Creative Director at Schumacher, overseeing all product development, visual merchandising, and visual marketing for the brand.

At Scalamandré, she will be responsible for all product development of fabric, wallcovering, trimming and furnishing introductions for the Scalamandré brand, including its recently launched Boris Kroll by Scalamandré Collection. Her creative role also extends into visual merchandising, marketing initiatives and brand image, and will report directly to CEO Louis Renzo.

“Everyone at Scalamandré is as excited as I am to welcome Susan to the company,” said Renzo. “She has a passion for decorative fabrics and I am confident she will be a valuable asset to both the company and our clients who are anxious to see new designs, fresh colors and a new vision for the company.”

In addition to the hiring of North, Scalamandré has gone through other major changes following the resignation of former President Steven Stolman. The company has announced plans to open a new, stand-alone showroom in the D&D Building in New York City, expected to open later this year.

According to Renzo, the same friendly customer service oriented staff will all be moving from the Stark showroom (where Scalamandré products were carried) to the new showroom location to the second floor. The fabric house is also opening a new showroom located in the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles.

“Certainly with Susan North joining the company our clients can expect to see a more transitional look for our product, never loosing sight of the exquisite luxury textiles for which Scalamandré has built its reputation,” said Renzo.
