Reed & Barton, marketers of fine tableware and giftware, announced yesterday the acquisition of Lunt Silversmiths following its Chapter 11 filing in December.
Established in 1902, Lunt’s product range includes sterling and stainless steel flatware, holloware and giftware.
The price of the acquisition was not made public. A Reed & Barton spokesperson said none of Lunt Silvermith’s executives will be retained.
“The combination of Lunt’s distinctive product line with Reed & Barton’s broad spectrum of product offerings will provide our merchants and customers with a greater diversity of options,” said Tim Riddle, president and chief executive officer of Reed & Barton. “With the acquisition complete, we can now concentrate on fast-tracking production and rebuilding inventory levels to provide the Lunt customer with reliable product availability and customer service. Keeping the Lunt name is important for loyal customers who traditionally shop for Lunt branded frames, baby goods, holloware and sterling flatware.”
Lunt joins Reed & Barton’s family of brands including Williamsburg, Thomas O’Brien, R+B Everyday and Belleek.
