In conjunction with The Magazine Antiques, Philip Gorrivan will be premiering fabrics from his new Highland Court collection in a "Designing with Antiques" vignette setting at the Winter Antiques Show from now through January 30 at New York's Armory on Park Avenue.
Gorrivan's space was designed as a salon, reminiscent of the great salons of the Enlightenment, where people would gather under the roof of an inspiring host. With its tailored sofas and mixture of curated furnishings, both new and old, this salon exemplifies the way people live now.
The collection, titled Philip Gorrivan ll, is shown throughout the room, from the gray “faux bois” pattern “London Plane” on the decorative screens to the heathered aubergine of “Terrazzo” on the sofas. The collection, which debuts in this show, is inspired by curiosities, art, architecture, and the gardens of Europe.
Gorrivan is known for his clever sense of color and a refined eye for objects, art and furnishings, and has been named House Beautiful’s “America’s top 25 new designers” and their “top 100 designers,” New York Spaces, “top 50 designers,” among others.
Designer Eileen Boyd has also created a vignette at the show, however her fabric collection will debut this Spring. Boyd is also known for her intricate yet bold use of color. She believes that decorating with color is often the antidote to breathing life into a dark-drab space and she is able to effortlessly blend traditional as well as modern elements into a space.
