NYCxDesign will unfold over May 3 to 24, 2017, with more than 500 events across New York City’s five boroughs—and an extra week has been added to the fair this year.

“New York is the most innovative city in the world and NYCxDESIGN is one way we are able to recognize, not only design talent in the five boroughs, but also our world-renowned design schools and businesses that are leading the way,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio. “Design and innovation makes our city unique and moves our world forward.”

Design—spanning interiors, architecture, fashion, technology and more—is a large part of the city’s economy. “With over 50,000 designers employed at over 7,500 firms and generating over $500 million in city tax revenue, the city’s growing design sector plays a critical role in our economy and NYCEDC is proud to support its continued growth,” shares Maria Torres-Springer, president of New York Economic Development Corporation, one of the fair’s organizers.

The 2016 NYCxDesign events included the Design Pavilion at Astor Place Plaza, the first annual NYCxDESIGN Awards (presented by Interior Design magazine), and the International Contemporary Furniture Fair
