Elle Decor editor in chief Michael Boodro is returning, for the second year running, to his post as the design committee chair for the International Show’s Opening Night party, hosted by The Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering. Boodro reflects on his stints as chair and shares his must-see treasures from this year’s show. An added bonus? One EAL reader will win two tickets to this year’s International Show. Email EAL to enter to win.

“At Elle Decor we love antiques, and we love rooms that embrace the romance and atmosphere of the past," says Boodro. "That is one reason I am so pleased to act as Design Chair of The Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering's Opening Night of the International Show, which features some of the finest dealers in the world. Also, it continues our association with the wonderful Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering, which supports the amazing work ofthe Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, the beneficiary of this wonderful evening."

Boodro's top four picks from this year's fair include the Bureau Plat from Frank Partridge, Statue of Venus Pudica from Ariadne, TWA’s World Map from Librairie Signatures and tiger screens from Kagedo Japanese Art.

"What’s important to remember about antiques is that they are not valuable because they’re old, they are old because they are valuable," says Boodro. "These objects were coveted and considered beautiful the day they were made, which is why they have been treasured and protected ever since.”
