On November 15, the IFDA New York Chapter will host Rising Stars of Design, an awards ceremony that this year will honor interior designers Jenny Dina Kirschner of JDK Interiors, Lindsay Boswell and Ali Levin of LABLstudio, and Lindsay Weiss and Noah Turkus of Weiss Turkus Projects, as well as product designer Jessica Ahnert Davis, founder of Nest Studio.
The event will be hosted by Rio Hamilton at 200 Lex and will include a presentation by The New Traditionalists. The winning designers will be on hand to discuss their businesses and their inspirations.
Rose Hittmeyer, IFDA NY’s chapter administrator, has been at the head of the awards program since it began 10 years ago. She shares, “IFDA began the Rising Stars Event Program as a way to support the new talent in our industry. We had already been recognizing the icons of our industry through our Circle of Excellence and Big Apple honors, but wanted promote our dedication to education and the future of our industry. IFDA’s mission through its programs and services is to enhance the professionalism and stature of the industry worldwide. Honoring the new talent and promoting their businesses, enveloping them into the IFDA community, is an integral part of enhancing public knowledge of the products and services offered by our colleagues.”
Hittmeyer describes the selection process: “The IFDA Rising Stars Committee, which includes this year’s MC, Rio Hamilton, reaches out to our members, chapter sponsors, the past Rising Star winners and our extensive social media following to gather nominees.” The awards started with the Interior Design category and in 2013, the Product Design category was added “to better represent the diversity of our membership,” says Hittmeyer. “The committee that selects the Rising Stars, which changes every year, strives to choose talent with the freshest point of view and one that expresses a new approach to the business of design.”
