The annual Treasures sale by Sotheby’s is renowned for its museum-like curated presentation of rare and important Works of Art. This lot will include pieces sold by order of the 12th Duke of Northumberland and the Trustees of the Northumberland Estates. Alongside this work is an impressive ensemble of furniture and decorative arts.  The sale begins at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9.

The Exceptional Sale (July 10, London)

United by the common themes of rarity, provenance, craftsmanship and beauty, the furniture and decorative arts offered in Christie’s Exceptional Sale will offer pieces ranging from an exquisite sculpture by Giambologna to a historic Egyptian statue. It also includes furniture by Thomas Chippendale, clocks by Breguet, imperial European silver, ormolu-mounted Chinese porcelain, a Berlin commemorative campana vase celebrating the Duke of Wellington’s victory at the Battle of Vitoria in 1813, and a wide range of works with royal provenance including an elegant carpet made during the reign of King Louis XV. The sale begins at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 10.
