At ADI, the Junior Designer works collaboratively with the team to bring each project’s design vision to reality and ensure its overall success. Junior Designers assist Designers on their projects with technical drafting, and by gathering, recording, and logging information. This position requires a knowledge of design, space planning, and construction administration.
• 4-year degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture or equivalent skill set.
• 1+ years of experience as a Designer in a Residential Firm.
• Experience with AutoCAD and SketchUp required.
• Knowledge of Studio Designer or similar programs.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Experience managing projects with specified budgets and timelines.
• Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced studio environment.
• Some knowledge of design genres and history.
• Extremely detail oriented.
• Strong, clear, and service-oriented communication and presentation skills.
• A commitment to continued learning and development.
• Ability to problem-solve creatively and great follow through.
• Adaptability and ability to work within a team and proactively maintain harmonious and professional relationships.
• Produces technical drawings, including floor plans, interior elevations, millwork detailing, lighting layouts, tile layouts, and custom furniture.
• Creates diagrams, renderings, schedules, and elevations in accordance with the Designer’s direction.
• Assists Designer during Design Development by creating elevations and incorporating selections into mood boards and furniture plans.
• Assists with back-end project organization, including setting up mood boards, binders, furniture plan line work, and schedules.
• Orders samples and maintains sample library for project-specific selections.
• Requests quotes from vendors and assists Designer with pricing.
• Assists in coordinating the procurement process for furnishings—placing orders and tracking fabrics, furniture, and lead times.
• Takes detailed minutes during internal and client meetings and maintains clear records of decisions and next steps.
• Prepares end-of-project client packages, including paint schedules, cleaning instructions, and vendor contact sheets.
