Eight collaborations set to launch this spring
By Staff

Many manufacturers look to interior designers for their creative juices and often partner up with them for product development. This spring, a handful of designers including Mary McDonald, Jamie Drake, Bunny Williams, Tilton Fenwick, Tobi Fairley, Christopher Kennedy, Made by Girl, Mr. Kate, Woodson & Rummerfield’s House of Design, Cortney and Rob Novogratz, and Monica Pederson have teamed up with companies to create new collections of fabrics, furniture and accessories.

American-made furniture company Chaddock is currently collaborating with Million Dollar Decorator star Mary McDonald on a furniture line, set to debut at the April High Point Market.

“I’ve been designing furniture for myself and clients for as long as I can remember,” said McDonald. “It is an honor to follow in the footsteps of design legends like David Easton and partner with Chaddock…the Mary McDonald Collection for Chaddock will be filled with all of my favorite things."

Also set to launch at the upcoming High Point Market is the Jamie Drake for Theodore Alexander collection, consisting of approximately 50 imaginative bedroom and living room pieces, which will be realized by Theodore Alexander’s craftspeople.

“From the moment I first walked into Theodore Alexander’s showroom I felt at home,” said Drake. “The superb quality and ravishing finishes are unparalleled. I’m excited to work with a company with such diverse capabilities that can realize whatever I dream.”

Bunny Williams has created two new collections for this season: the Bunny Williams for Dash & Albert Rug Company collection, which is a combination of 36 performance-based, outdoor-friendly designs, as well as natural jute weaves appropriate for use indoors or on covered porches; and the Bunny Williams for Pine Cone Hill collection, a worldly collection of pillows and throws inspired by Williams’s extensive travels. Both collections will be available next month.

“My job as a designer is to help make smart choices when a house is being furnished,” said Williams. “Clients want homes they can really live in and interiors that fit their lifestyles. Today there are so many great, affordable ways to decorate and make rooms both attractive and practical, like Dash & Albert’s stain-proof rugs. When Annie [Selke, founder of Dash & Albert] asked me to collaborate with her, I jumped at the chance.”

Duralee has partnered with Anne Foster and Suysel DePedro Cunningham of the design firm Tilton Fenwick on their first licensed fabric collection, Duralee Designer: Tilton Fenwick, now available in Duralee showrooms. According to Duralee, the pair considers color paramount in their design process, and their love for creating sophisticated yet distinctive combinations in their design projects has been reflected in their multi-colored three color-book collection of printed and woven textiles.

“We used our decorating ‘wants’ to inform this collection that we hope will offer the Duralee customer the opportunity to create their own inspired spaces,” said Foster and Cunningham. “We can't wait to see how designers will mix and match the fabrics in the collection to create beautiful rooms of their own."

Five leading designers have created lampshade patterns as part of the Icons Collection for Lamps Plus, which are available now. They include Tobi Fairley, Christopher Kennedy, Made by Girl, Mr. Kate, and Woodson & Rummerfield’s House of Design. Consumers may customize their lamp by selecting a color combination and base style through an online tool Design Your Own program.

“We are excited to be partnering with these designers who exhibit a signature ‘iconic’ style,” said Manja Swanson, chief creative officer for Lamps Plus. "The Icons Collection makes the power of great design available to consumers everywhere.”

For their Novogratz dinner wear collection in collaboration with Macy’s, Cortney and Robert Novogratz mixed elements of modern and vintage style for a fashion-forward pattern featuring robust shapes, and chic, colorful designs. The collection includes plates, bowls, mugs, serving trays and canisters, and is now available at Macy’s.

Pedersen will have her own space to showcase the line within the Abbyson Las Vegas showroom and will debut the collection with more than 25 SKUs. More than 75 SKUs are planned for mid-2014.

"I am so excited to launch my Monica Pedersen Furniture Collection with a company whose product and people I believe in," said Pedersen. "With this partnership, we are going to be introducing many new and trendy designs that will be inspired by elegance."
