Upon opening its Paramus, New Jersey, showroom yesterday, Design Within Reach announced its support of the second annual Be Original Americas Fellowship. The seven-week summer fellowship is hosted by top design companies and offers students a field education on designing, manufacturing, distributing, promoting and selling design.
“Supporting Be Original Americas is like standing up for your brother or sister. We’re in the same family, we work together to preserve authentic design and designers. We’re so proud to be able to support our shared mission with this donation in our new Paramus Studio,” says Design Within Reach CEO John Edelman.
“No program has been more successful at sharing Be Original Americas’ mission of promoting authentic, creative design than our Student Design Fellowship,” says Sam Grawe, president of Be Original Americas. “We not only made a significant impact in the lives of two promising young designers, but also shared broadly what it takes to bring an original design to market. Some of the students’ most enjoyable moments were spent with the craftspeople from our member organizations, so I’m thrilled that we’ll be bringing that experience directly to consumers in New Jersey. We are honored to have DWR’s and Fritz Hansen’s ongoing support, and look forward to another outstanding Design Fellowship program.”
