Two ventures are now accepting applications from designers. In celebration of its 100th anniversary, the New York School of Interior Design has announced a call for submissions for its Alumni Exhibition. The exhibition theme is “How the interior design industry has evolved, and how it has stayed the same,” which may be interpreted by, for example, “advances in rendering techniques; rethinking the way spaces are used and designed; or the importance of hand drafting.”

Alumni are allowed one submission and may include up to two projects for consideration. Projects do not have to be realized but must be original work that was created after the designer left the school. Original work in all mediums is accepted (e.g., digital renderings, hand drawings, 3D models, furniture pieces, textiles, photography). Digital examples of work are required for submission. The submissions will be judged by fellow NYSID alumni as well as design professionals. The deadline for entry is December 1, and the exhibit will be on view in the NYSID Gallery from March 3 to April 29, 2016. Apply via Submittable

Andrew Martin is inviting designers to enter the International Interior Designer of the Year Award 2016. Up to 100 designers, chosen from several hundred entries, will be featured in the next edition of the book Interior Design Review, which will be published in September 2016. The deadline for the competition is December 20, 2015, and there is no fee to enter. Residential and commercial projects are accepted. Apply here.
