The New York Sales Manager will serve as a key driver of revenue growth for Wexler Gallery, focusing on new client procurement and closing sales across the gallery’s fine art and design program. This role requires a proactive, motivated individual who thrives on identifying opportunities, cultivating relationships, and converting interest into successful placements.
Reporting directly to the gallery owners, the Sales Manager will work closely with the Marketing Director, Philadelphia Sales Associate, and broader team to execute targeted sales strategies supporting exhibitions, art fairs, and the gallery’s ongoing presence within the international art and design market.
Primary Responsibilities
• Drive new client acquisition—actively research, identify, and engage potential collectors, interior designers, architects, and consultants.
• Close sales across all gallery channels, from direct client outreach to art fairs and exhibitions.
• Convert first-time buyers into repeat collectors through thoughtful follow-up, tailored communication, and superior client service.
• Develop and maintain target lists for each exhibition, fair, and marketing campaign.
• Work with both new and existing clients to place works from the gallery’s inventory, including consigned pieces.
• Ensure timely fulfillment of every sale and a seamless post-sale experience.
• Maintain comprehensive client records and sales tracking systems to meet or exceed quarterly goals.
• Stay fluent in all gallery artists, materials, and design processes to communicate with authority and enthusiasm.
Business Development & Market Engagement
• Proactively cultivate relationships with interior designers, architects, collectors, and other professionals in adjacent markets.
• Identify and develop new categories of buyers who align with the gallery’s aesthetic and values.
• Maintain a competitive understanding of market trends, pricing, and comparable sales.
• Schedule and lead in-person presentations with design and architecture firms to introduce the gallery program and discover client needs.
• Provide strategic input on marketing materials and presentations that best support sales efforts.
• Attend gallery openings, museum exhibitions, fairs, and industry events to expand the gallery’s network and visibility.
• Travel periodically to the Philadelphia flagship for strategy meetings and training.
Performance Expectations
• Meet or exceed quarterly and annual sales goals set by gallery leadership.
• Demonstrate measurable growth in new client contacts and conversions.
• Contribute actively to the gallery’s visibility and reputation within the NYC design and collector community.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a results-driven salesperson with an established network in the art or design industries. They are confident, articulate, and deeply knowledgeable about contemporary art and collectible design. They possess the tenacity to prospect new clients and the finesse to close high-value sales with professionalism and discretion.
Challenging traditional labels, Wexler Gallery exhibits collectible design and artwork that coexists in multiple disciplines and traditions. Questioning and testing the boundaries of craft, design, and fine art, Wexler Gallery aims to present work that consistently celebrates material innovation and conceptual content as much as aesthetic beauty. Wexler Gallery opened in 2000 in Philadelphia, expanded to New York City in 2018 and in 2023 opened their 11,500-square-foot flagship gallery in Philadelphia's vibrant rising Fishtown neighborhood. Since its inception, the gallery has proudly showcased extraordinary work by both established artists and the emerging talent of today.
