Job Description

The Regional Sales Manager (RSM) drives revenue growth and expands The Rug Company's presence in an assigned territory. The RSM owns the region's sales targets, builds relationships with trade and retail clients, and ensures an exceptional client experience. The RSM directly manages the territory's showroom — including inside sales reps and rug technicians — and leads all outside sales reps. As a player-coach, the RSM blends hands-on business development with team leadership, partnering closely with the VP of Sales to grow the business.

Leadership & Team Development-
Lead the regional team to achieve sales targets, fostering accountability through clear expectations, and feedback.
Model best-in-class client engagement and mentor the team on business development and relationship management.
Coordinate outside reps, inside reps, and rug technicians for seamless territory coverage.

Sales & Business Development-
Drive regional revenue through disciplined pipeline management and market expansion.
Cultivate relationships with designers, architects, and private clients while pursuing new business and untapped segments.
Analyze performance, forecast revenue, and address gaps to optimize growth.
Carry a personal sales contribution, leading by example on high-value deals.

Strategy & Collaboration-
Partner with the VP of Sales on regional strategy execution.
Share market feedback and competitive insights with leadership.

Marketing, PR, & Brand Building-
Support regional marketing initiatives, trade events, and client activations.
Represent the company at industry events as a brand ambassador.
Build brand recognition.

Operations-
Oversee showroom operations, including staffing, scheduling, and workflow.
Manage rug technicians and back-of-house standards for rug handling, inventory, and samples.
Ensure merchandising aligns with brand guidelines and policies are followed.
Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve performance.

Job Requirements

• Proven track record of success in sales within premium industries (e.g., furniture, textiles, or design-related sectors).
• Prior experience leading and developing a sales team, with the ability to manage field-based outside reps, showroom-based inside reps, and an on-site support team (rug technicians).
• Strong understanding of the interior design industry with established networks and a proven ability to build and maintain trade relationships.
• Exceptional sales and negotiation skills with a demonstrated ability to close deals and meet or exceed targets.
• Proficiency in CRM platforms and sales tools (e.g., Pipedrive recommended).
• Ability to analyze client needs and provide creative, tailored solutions.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, self-starter mindset.
• Established network of high-end design contacts.
• Strong communication and managerial skills.
