Job Description

Katie Martinez Design is a nationally recognized high-end interior design firm focused on creating layered, authentic and timeless spaces. We are seeking a highly creative, meticulous, and experienced Interior Designer to join our collaborative team and help execute projects in New England and beyond from concept development through final installation. You will collaborate closely with the Principal and full design team from concept development through FF&E sourcing, documentation, purchasing support, and installation. Responsibilities may evolve based on the needs of the firm. This role is full time, in person in our Ipswich, Massachusetts office.

Design Development & Documentation:
- Develop comprehensive design concepts, including space planning, materials selection (fabrics, finishes, stone, wood, lighting, plumbing), and custom furniture design.
- Source furnishings, finishes, plumbing, lighting, hardware, art, and décor; develop concepts for custom furniture pieces.
- Prepare detailed, professional drawing sets (CAD, SketchUp) for construction and furniture fabrication.
- Generate proposals for all materials, furnishings, and accessories.

Project Management & Execution:
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to tight deadlines and budget constraints.
- Coordinate directly with architects, general contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors to ensure design intent is accurately executed on site.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, address issues, and maintain quality control.
- Oversee the project budget and manage the procurement process alongside the purchasing team, ensuring timely orders and tracking.

Client & Vendor Relations:
- Participate in client meetings, presenting design ideas, materials, and progress updates with professionalism and poise.
- Maintain and cultivate relationships with high-end trade showrooms, custom fabricators, and artisans.
- Serve as a knowledgeable and polished representative of the firm.

Job Requirements

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a high-end residential interior design firm.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a related field.

Design & Project Management Acumen:
- Familiarity with construction timelines and project management workflows.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating sophisticated aesthetics and technical ability
- Knowledge of historical and contemporary furniture, art, and architectural styles.
- Proven ability to select, specify, and manage complex, multi-layered material palettes.

Technical Proficiency:
- Expert proficiency in AutoCAD for construction documentation.
- High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign) for concept boards and presentations.
- Strong working knowledge of SketchUp or Revit for visualization.
- Experience with studio management software (e.g., Studio Designer).

Soft Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of working independently and as part of a team.
- Uncompromising attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and shifting priorities.
