William Graper Interiors is growing, and we're looking for a highly organized, creative, and proactive Junior Interior Designer / Design Assistant to join our team. Working closely with the Principal Designer, this hands-on role offers experience across all phases of high-end residential design, from initial concepts, sourcing, and technical drawings to procurement, project coordination, and final installation.
ABOUT THE ROLE
- DESIGN & SOURCING: Assist with sourcing furniture, lighting, fabrics, finishes, and materials; obtain vendor pricing and lead times; and prepare polished design presentations using Keynote or Google Slides.
- TECHNICAL DRAWINGS: Create and update floor plans, elevations, furniture layouts, and technical drawings using AutoCAD. Assist with field measurements and documentation for design development and construction.
- PROJECT COORDINATION: Support the Principal Designer with project timelines, budgets, finish schedules, site visits, and communication with vendors, contractors, and fabricators.
- PROCUREMENT & LOGISTICS: Manage purchasing documentation, track orders, coordinate deliveries, and maintain accurate budgets and project records using Studio Designer.
- STUDIO ORGANIZATION: Maintain the studio's sample library, material inventory, and project documentation while supporting day-to-day administrative and operational needs.
- INSTALLATION SUPPORT: Assist with receiving, organizing, staging, and installing furnishings and accessories, helping ensure projects are executed smoothly from start to finish.
As a small, detail-driven studio, we're looking for someone with a discerning design eye, exceptional organizational skills, and a resourceful, can-do attitude. The ideal candidate takes initiative, enjoys problem-solving, and is equally comfortable sourcing beautiful furnishings, managing the details behind a project, and rolling up their sleeves on installation day.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 3+ years of professional experience in interior design, preferably within high-end residential design.
- Proficiency in Studio Designer, AutoCAD (2D floor plans and elevations), and Google Workspace is required. Experience creating polished presentations in Keynote or Google Slides.
- Must be based in Los Angeles, CA, and available for in-person collaboration, site visits, and installations. Hybrid work environment with approximately 1–2 days on-site per week, depending on project needs.
- Familiarity with high-end residential design, architectural construction documents, project phases, and the Los Angeles vendor, fabricator, and workroom network.
- A discerning design eye with a genuine appreciation for furniture, materials, craftsmanship, and thoughtfully considered interiors.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong independent thinking, resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to take initiative, anticipate needs, and follow through on tasks with minimal oversight.
- Professional, thoughtful, and personable communication skills when working with clients, vendors, contractors, and the Principal Designer.
- A collaborative, positive attitude and willingness to balance creative design work with administrative responsibilities, project coordination, and hands-on installation support.
- Valid driver's license and access to an insured vehicle for local travel as needed.
