Job Description

Northworks Architects & Planners is a multidisciplinary design firm seeking an experienced and design-driven Interior Designer to join our Philadelphia studio. This role is suited for a mid-to-senior level professional with a strong background in high-end residential environments and a refined understanding of furnishings, materiality, and spatial composition.

The Interior Designer will play a key role in leading the development and execution of interior design concepts across residential and hospitality projects. This individual will bring a high level of design rigor, technical expertise, and ownership, guiding projects from early concept through construction while mentoring junior team members and collaborating closely with architects and project leadership.

Responsibilities
• Lead interior design concepts from early vision through construction, ensuring alignment with client goals and design standards
• Oversee FF&E selection, furniture layouts, and finish palettes with a high level of design rigor
• Produce and review interior documentation, including plans, elevations, and millwork details
• Manage FF&E packages, finish schedules, and project specifications
• Review drawings, renderings, and samples for quality and consistency with design intent
• Collaborate with architects, project managers, and consultants to integrate interior and architectural systems
• Present design concepts to clients and lead discussions through feedback and decision-making
• Mentor junior team members and provide oversight of production and quality control
• Support construction administration, including site visits, field verification, etc.

Job Requirements

Qualifications
• 6–9 years of professional experience in interior design, with a strong focus on high-end residential projects
• Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture from an accredited institution
• Knowledge of the Philadelphia and Mid-Atlantic region market including vendors, furniture and fixture sources, showrooms, custom fabricators, and contractors is essential
• Demonstrated ability to lead interior design efforts across all project phases, from concept through construction administration
• Advanced proficiency in Revit and/or AutoCAD, with strong production and documentation capabilities is required.
• Experience with visualization tools such as Enscape, Lumion, or SketchUp preferred
• Strong knowledge of interior construction detailing, millwork design, and coordination with architectural systems
• Deep understanding of FF&E, materials, finishes, and custom detailing
• Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience interfacing directly with clients
• Proven ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior staff
• Availability for local and out of state travel for jobsite visits and project installations. Must have a valid US driver's license
• Ability to work full-time, in person, at our Philadelphia studio
