KW Studio Partners is searching on behalf of a well-respected residential interior design studio in New York City. They’re known for refined, thoughtfully layered interiors for an ultra-high-net-worth clientele, and for a collaborative culture where designers genuinely own their projects.
Seeking an Interior Designer with 6+ years of UHNW residential experience who brings both a strong creative eye and a real knack for keeping projects on track.
You’ll lead projects from first concept all the way through installation, covering design development, client presentations, procurement, construction administration, and the final install. Clients will come to rely on you, and the team will look to you to keep things moving smoothly.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a related design discipline.
- 6+ years of experience in a residential interior design studio.
- Proven experience in bespoke and custom design, from spec development through rendering and production oversight.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or Rhino.
- Skilled in 3D modeling and able to produce hand-rendered drawings.
- Proficiency working within Studio Designer or a comparable project management platform.
- Familiarity with Miro, Canva, Keynote, Adobe InDesign, or similar presentation tools.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
- Demonstrated strength in construction administration, with working knowledge of permitting and building codes.
Core Competencies
- Polished presentation skills and confident, friendly client communication, both written and verbal.
- Ability to translate a Principal's vision, room by room, into cohesive design schematics.
- Strong organization, with the capacity to run multiple projects at different stages at once.
- Comfort leading and delegating to Junior Designers.
Responsibilities:
Design and documentation
- Drive design schematics, furniture plans, elevations, and hard finish schedules and diagrams that carry design intent accurately into the field.
- Source, price, and specify hard finishes and custom pieces; build mood boards and renderings for client presentations.
- Review and QC outgoing drawings and client-facing materials.
Clients and collaborators
- Serve as the primary day-to-day client contact under the Principal; present selections with clarity and manage revisions promptly.
- Collaborate with builders, architects, project managers, and contractors so design intent is executed with precision.
- Triage incoming client requests, flagging urgent items to the Principal.
- Procurement and installation
- Place and develop custom orders with vendors; coordinate shipping, receiving, delivery, and installation.
- Track vendor correspondence, including confirmations, lead times, delays, damages, and claims.
- Confirm site readiness for upcoming deliveries and installations with contractors and project managers.
Project management
- Keep projects on budget and on schedule, anticipating and troubleshooting issues early.
- Reconcile budgets against actual spend and flag discrepancies.
- Keep specs, budgets, and schedules current; follow up on approvals, invoices, and purchase orders.
- Prepare weekly status reports and join internal status and on-site meetings.
