We are seeking a Design Lead with experience in the residential industry. This role is responsible for developing CAD drawings, 3D modeling, selecting furniture & finishes and creating presentation decks. The ideal candidate should have knowledge of the construction process, the ability to manage and deliver a project from start through to completion and will collaborate closely with our Technical Director to ensure designs translate to reality. Work will be performed under the direction of our Creative Director and with the support of a Jr. Designer. This is an onsite position in Bryn Mawr, PA.
Responsibilities:
- Design within Haldon House’s signature aesthetic, pushing boundaries as our brand evolves and grows
- Create and maintain floor plans, furniture plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations and millwork details under the guidance of the CD
- Design fully considered rooms / design schemes autonomously
- Develop floor plan and elevation options and studies for CD while determining spatial flow and/or solving for obstacles
- Input on landscape design and exterior architecture to maintain consistency with the interiors
- Maintain current and accurate project presentations and drawings as projects evolve to completion
- Prepare specification packages in collaboration with Technical Lead (with support of Jr. Designer)
- Create and manage schedules such as MEP, Finishing Materials, Lighting, Window & Door, etc.
- Research and spec furniture and finishes that are in line with overall design direction
- Provide clear direction to Procurement Lead for purchasing
- Provide secondary QC of products with Procurement Lead
- Diligent collaboration with the Technical and Construction teams to ensure designs can be translated realistically and seamlessly into build
- Conduct regular QC visits to sites to ensure design accuracy and course correct as needed
- Work across multiple projects at a time across phases, while keeping all tasks organized and moving forward
- Ability to work autonomously and continue to push projects forward without direction both internally and externally
- Lead Jr. Designers and delegate appropriately
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10+ years of residential design experience
- Knowledge of the full design process including Concept, Schematic, Design Development, Construction Documentation, Construction Administration, Project Management, Procurement and Installation
- Extensive experience in AutoCAD or Revit and Photoshop
- Ability to create 3D models in Sketchup (not mandatory)
- Designing for renovation and new builds
