TORREY is seeking an Interior Design Intern to join our team in the New York City office. We are looking for a creative, motivated, and curious design talent with a passion for Interior Design. We are offering a position in Interior Design for individuals who will work under the direction of experienced professional design staff on a diversity of project opportunities. As an Interior Design Intern, you will be a part of the following:
Assist in the sourcing, maintenance, and update of the materials resource library, liaising with design showrooms to help keep the library current; returning samples when required.
Contacting vendors to confirm lead time, pricing, stock information, etc. for specific projects. Assist in the sourcing of new materials, furniture, and lighting.
Assist in the production of design drawings, presentations, and digital modeling in support of the Interior Design team.
Work under close supervision of the design staff and receive instruction and mentoring regarding design tasks.
Assist the Studio Assistant with various office management tasks, errands, coordination of shipping/delivery of packages, etc. required for the daily operation of the office.
Qualifications Required - A current undergrad/grad student attending school in the NYC area. Interior Design ability. Previous experience with the production of design documentation would be valuable. Have a basic understanding of architectural design or interior design and construction principles. The Candidate must have strong organizational skills, be able to follow directions, be open to feedback and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Basic competency in AutoCAD is required. Rhino and SketchUp (highly desired). Microsoft and Adobe CS (a must).
