SRF Interiors is seeking a part-time design assistant/project manager to assist the principal on all aspects of residential interior design projects. Must be a highly motivated, detail-oriented problem solver. This is a freelance position with flexible hours, with the majority of the work able to be remote. Must be located in Brooklyn/NYC area and able to travel to job sites 1-2 times per week in the area.
Primary tasks to encompass all aspects of the design process, from initial client consultation & documentation, to product sourcing & proposals, and finally installation. Daily tasks may include sourcing ff&e, creating client presentations, developing floorplans using autocad, gathering estimates from vendors and trades, coordinating and scheduling deliveries, pick up samples, visit project sites to take measurements, meet with contractors, etc.
This role is ideal for a proactive individual who is looking to learn the ins and outs of the business through a mix of creative design support, product procurement, administrative management, and hands-on field work. Must have a positive can-do attitude.
Must have 1–2 years of experience in interior design or a related field
Must be kind, eager to learn, adaptable, and open to new tools, processes, and responsibilities
Highly organized, detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities
Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to clearly document and relay information to clients, vendors, and contractors
Professional, proactive, and dependable with strong follow-through
Ability to work collaboratively
Comfortable interfacing with clients, architects, contractors, and vendors
Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of Quickbooks a plus
Working knowledge of fabric, furniture, lighting, and trade vendors
