Job Description

Wendover Art Group is seeking an Artist Resourcer to build and manage a dynamic network of artists, illustrators, and photographers while overseeing the legal, operational, and creative aspects of external art development.

This role is central to maintaining a strong and diverse art pipeline, balancing creative strategy with rights management and operational execution. You will serve as the key liaison between Wendover and its artist community, ensuring partnerships are productive, compliant, and aligned with our brand direction.

Artist Sourcing & Relationship Management:
- Identify and recruit new artists, illustrators, and photographers aligned with Wendover’s creative and commercial goals.
- Maintain relationships with artists and agents and serve as the point of contact for all ongoing communication.
- Evaluate the artistic and commercial potential of new contributors and align them with internal design needs and brand direction.

License Agreement Negotiation & Execution:
- Negotiate, draft, and finalize artist agreements, including licensing terms, exclusivity, and territory usage.
- Ensure all contracts are executed, tracked, and stored in compliance with company legal standards and intellectual property protocols.
- Maintain awareness of licensing laws and image rights to ensure full compliance.

Royalties & Commission Management:
- Track and facilitate artist royalty and commission payments accurately and on time.
- Partner with Finance to ensure all compensation is aligned with contract terms.

Job Requirements

Media Clearances & Licensed Imagery Management:
- Conduct due diligence to confirm clearances for third-party media and imagery used in artwork.
- Manage rights and restrictions for licensed imagery from stock agencies and external providers.

Original Artwork Handling:
- Oversee receiving, cataloging, packaging, and safe return of original artwork.
- Ensure physical artwork is properly stored and handled with care to preserve integrity.

Artwork Digitization & Asset Setup:
- Coordinate high-quality scanning and digitization of original artworks.
- Set up digital assets in Wendover’s system, ensuring metadata accuracy and proper cataloging.
- Determine and document maximum print sizes, resolutions, and format requirements for each artwork.

Database & Resource Management:
- Maintain comprehensive records of artist profiles, project involvement, and contract terms.
- Track usage, rights periods, and renewal dates to prevent IP issues and ensure proactive management.

Project Coordination:
- Work with internal teams to align artist submissions with project timelines, briefs, and customer needs.
- Manage artist deliverables to ensure timely submission and creative alignment with goals.

Strategic Planning:
- Analyze gaps in the artist portfolio and provide recommendations for new talent or artistic styles.
- Support efforts to diversify artistic representation and expand our global creative reach.

Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in artist management, licensing, creative production, or a related field
- Strong understanding of licensing agreements, intellectual property, and media rights
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Ability to balance creative evaluation with operational execution
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Experience working with digital asset management systems is a plus
- Background in art, design, or a related creative field preferred
