Wayfair renews global partnership with Habitat for Humanity

Home goods retailer WAYFAIR has announced it is renewing its global partnership with HABITAT FOR HUMANITY to help continue the mission of building and rehabilitating safe and affordable homes. In the past five years of the partnership, Wayfair has donated more than $1 million to Habitat through fundraising, product donations and volunteer mobilization.

“Wayfair is rooted in the belief that everyone should live in a home they love, which is why we are so committed to Habitat’s mission to create safe, decent and affordable housing in partnership with individuals and families,” says Niraj Shah, CEO, co-founder and co-chairman of Wayfair. “We look forward to building on our partnership with Habitat and providing more families the chance to own a home.”

Given the opportunity to donate at checkout, more than 200,000 Wayfair customers have supported the cause. And Wayfair, which also consists of sister sites Joss & Main, AllModern, DwellStudio and Birch Lane, has donated thousands of pieces of furniture and decor to Habitat for Humanity ReStore resale outlets.

Come October, the company will participate in its first build project, where employees will join local businesses partners and customers to build a family home in Scarborough, a Toronto suburb. The location celebrates Wayfair’s growing presence in Canada, after having launched Wayfair.ca in January 2016.

“We are grateful for the support Wayfair has provided Habitat for Humanity as we celebrate the five-year anniversary of our partnership,” says Colleen Finn Ridenhour, senior vice president of development at Habitat for Humanity International. “It’s the generosity of organizations such as Wayfair that allows us to reach more individuals and families to ensure everyone has a decent place to live.”
