Interior designer Thomas Pheasant will be celebrated as the 2016 Design Icon during the Winter Las Vegas Market, held January 24 to 28, 2016. Now in its 10th year, the Design Icon Award recognizes a designer who has contributed to the industry throughout his or her career. It is also the hallmark event at the winter market, and offers other designers the chance to learn from “living legends.”

“Thomas Pheasant’s work has made an indelible imprint on interior design that has stood the test of time,” said Bob Maricich, chief executive officer of International Market Centers. “He has the uncanny ability to wed classic style with a modern feel that never feels stilted—it’s always fresh and soothing—with an aesthetic that feels luxurious yet comfortable. He’s one-of-a-kind, and we are thrilled to have him as this year’s Design Icon honoree.”

Pheasant has been an AD100 since 2000 and also received Architectural Digest’s distinction Dean of American Design. He was the first American designer asked to exhibit his custom furniture at Paris’s Pavillon des Antiquaires et des Beaux Arts. He has also been honored with the Andrew Martin International Interior Designer of the Year Award and the John Russell Pope Award by the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art. He has premiered collections including Thomas Pheasant Collection for Baker, Thomas Pheasant Collection for McGuire and the limited-edition collection Thomas Pheasant Studio. Pheasant joins the ranks of previous honorees Carleton Varney, Barbara Barry, Vladimir Kagan, Juan Montoya, Vicente Wolf, Christopher Guy, Larry Laslo, Roger Thomas, Jamie Drake and Alexa Hampton.

“I am honored to be selected as the Design Icon for 2016 and to join the ranks of the amazing designers before me,” Pheasant said. “It is so rewarding to be recognized and feel that my work has contributed to the evolution of American design.”

The 2016 Design Icon Award ceremony will take place on January 26 at 10 a.m., with a presentation by Pheasant, followed by a Q&A session with Maricich and a signing of Pheasant’s latest book, Simply Serene: The New Luxury for Modern Interiors.
