Project Décor, the new social home decorating web platform for design enthusiasts, will be launching its “invite-only” beta test on June 18 with over 40 design companies.

Participating brands include Knoll, Richard Schultz, Jonathan Adler, Bernhardt Design, Orrefors, ducduc, Stephanie Odegard Collection, Mirror Image, Jan Kath, among others.

Interactive boards allow users to browse designer rooms, “tear” items they love, upload photographs of their room or furniture and easily combine them to create their own personal design. Project Décor also will be offering consumers a way to get products that are often inaccessible as they are typically only available to the trade.

“It’s difficult for consumers to envision how various items from different brands will look together in a room,” said Project Décor co-founder Cliff Sirlin. “Project Décor solves that problem and empowers users to easily create beautiful designer rooms that they can share with their social circle.”

“Decorating a home is an inherently collaborative process,” said Project Décor co-founder Andy Appelbaum. “Social Design with Project Décor makes it easy for consumers to share and collaborate with friends and family. Then, when users are ready to buy, there is a seamless e-commerce experience so they no longer have to run around to different stores or web sites to make their purchases.”

The company has raised a $1.6 million seed round of financing, led by LaunchCapital and Founder Collective, as well as a number of angel investors.
