The 19th edition of SaloneSatellite, themed “New Materials; New Design,” spotlighted the work of 650 designers under age 35, honoring Studio Philipp Beisheim of Germany with first prize for its Inflatable Sidetable; Bouillon of Japan for its Warm Stool; and Studio Nito of Germany with third prize for its Bobina Chair.

The Salone del Mobile Milano Awards were also announced this month. The recipients include Kartell, for Best Display; Jasper Morrison, Vitra, for Best Product/Chair; Piero Lissoni, Glas Italia, for Best Product/Furnishing System; Daniele Lago, Lago, for Best Product/Kitchen Section; and Alberto Meda, Tubes Radiatori, for Best Product/Bathroom Section. Giacomo Moor won the Best Young Designer distinction, while Konstantin Grcic won the Best Designer award, and Cristina Celestino was honored with the Special Jury Award.

According to Furniture Today, this year’s Salone del Mobile fair hosted almost 375,000 visitors, a 4 percent increase since 2014. “With 67 percent of attendees from abroad, most of them high-profile and with robust spending power, according to comments from exhibitors, this edition has yet again confirmed the strong international vocation and importance of exports as a crucial segment of the sector today,” said Roberto Snaidero, president of the Salone del Mobile Milano.
