Eight new showrooms open at New York Design Center

The New York Design Center (NYDC) continues its growth this spring with the addition of eight new showrooms to its list of nearly 100.

“We are thrilled to welcome these eight new showrooms to The New York Design Center, expanding the breadth and scope of available of products,” said Jim Druckman, President/CEO of the NYDC. “The NYDC is committed to inspiring good design and we are confident that these new lines will be exciting to designers and consumers alike.”

Here is a look at the new showrooms:

John Richard Showroom

John Richard, Suite 603—Now Open

The John Richard culture has become an icon in the industry for their classic, tasteful home design. Their items are influenced by the world around us. The passion and attention to detail sets John Richard pieces apart. Lighting, accessories, accent furniture, case goods, and their newest category, upholstery, will work cohesively together to make John Richard a rich, new destination at The New York Design Center.

The showroom will host a Grand-Opening celebration on Thursday, March 7 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.  Guests will be able to view the curated collections of furniture, lighting, accessories, botanicals and wall décor, as well as meet designer Florence de Dampierre as she introduces her exclusive John Richard collection. Christopher Guy, 16th floor—Opening Spring 2013

Defined by the singular design philosophy of "A Contemporary Mood with Classic Values," Christopher Guy furnishings have garnered worldwide acclaim. Christopher Guy's prestigious listings of accomplished projects include the Wynn Resorts in Las Vegas and Macau, the prominent Phoenix Resort in Sanya, China and the Ritz Carlton, Tokyo, to mention just a few. His furnishings have become stars in their own right in films such as "Casino Royale," "The Devil Wears Prada" and "Hangover."

Christopher's eye for detail, passion for design and ability to capture and reflect a distinctively classic yet contemporary mood has ensured the Christopher Guy name is at the forefront of luxury furnishings design around the world. As an internationally acclaimed brand, Christopher Guy continues to grow the brand via stand-alone stores in Beverly Hills, High Point, Verona, London, Shanghai, Taiwan, and has established growth strategies on every continent. In addition, the line is now comprehensively displayed at Harrods in London and will soon open showrooms in New York, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

DESIRON, Suite 702—Opening March 2013

A celebrated contemporary home furnishings company, Desiron was founded in 1997 by Frank Carfaro, a third generation ironsmith whose family emigrated from Turino, Italy in 1921. Following a short tenure on Wall Street, Carfaro decided to marry his business savvy with his passion for design and artisanal craftsmanship. DESIRON is committed to producing Eco-Friendly, American-made home furnishings that elevate sophistication in any space.

Desiron continues to grow with the opening of their new showroom in The New York Design Center and projects for the Setai New York, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, and American Express. Desiron remains a highly acclaimed furniture manufacturer whose product in seen in the pages of numerous publications.

Julian Chichester, Suite 604—Opening Spring 2013

This new showroom brings a British influence to the NYDC. Interpreted in a distinctively contemporary way, Julian Chichester channels the great designs of the 19th & 20th centuries to create the eclectic, transitional furniture. The showroom will also feature Julian Chichester's brand-new line, Mr. Brown. The pieces are more accessible, giving classic English formality a knowing twist.

Kindel, Suite 510—Now Open

For over 100 years, Kindel remains one of the oldest furniture companies in America. The New York Design Center is pleased to welcome the strictly made-in-the-USA furniture company to its tenant roster.

Richard Cohen Collection, Suite 801—Opening May 2013

This company represents some of the industry's finest and well established tabletop, giftware and home furnishings brands as well as many exciting and innovative new companies. Their new showroom caters to decorators and designers serving distinguished clientele as well as corporate gift buyers from small to Fortune 500 companies.

transFORM, Suite 708—Opening Spring 2013

Offering custom high-end home storage, transFORM was founded in 2005 and focuses on both the home and the homeowner to ensure every want and need is addressed. Innovative design with a refined vision is made possible by an expansive selection of the finest materials, finishes, upgrades and accessories available, resulting in solutions that fit the available space, activities and personal tastes of the customer. Their new showroom showcases the endless possibilities for closet, craft room, garage, laundry, office, pantry, radiator covers, wall beds, and wall unit customization. transFORM is proud to design, engineer and manufacture at their 30,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility centrally located in New Rochelle.

Woodwrights Wide Plank, Suite 714—Opening March 2013

From traditional to modern, in both classic and prefinished varieties, Woodwrights Wide Plank offers durability and uniquely American character of wide plank floors which have influenced generations of designers, architects and builders seeking to recreate the distinctive, elegant look. Maintaining strong working relationships with some of the most respected sawyers in the country, Woodwrights Wide Plank carefully inspects and crafts one plank at a time. Craftsmen with a lifetime of experience understand the intricacies and dynamics inherent in the wide range of materials they use.
