Design Week Mexico has announced the schedule of events for this year’s fair, which will run October 5 to 9 in Mexico City. The fair will host emerging design talents that epitomize contemporary Mexican design and craftsmanship. Its mission is “to promote creativity and design as values that contribute to our society’s economic, social and cultural development.” Some of the features include a Don Shoemaker exhibit, which explores the work of the American-Mexican industrial designer, and Vision & Tradition, a residency program in which designers from Mexico and this year’s DWM Guest Country, Germany, work with artisans from the Guest State, Jalisco, and exhibit their work.
Another feature is the Design House, where different designers and architects, including StudioRoca, Sofía Aspe, Estudio Claudina Flores and Rhyzoma, have transformed a house into an exhibition through interior design, art, architecture and product design. Design Week Mexico will also include documentary screenings and a discussion series with architects and designers that include Patricia Urquiola, John Bela and Jennifer Dunlop Fletcher, among others.
