Showroom Spotlight
Coco & Dash is transporting guests to a colorful new destination in Dallas. Since 2014, mother-and-daughter founders Teddie and Courtney Garrigan have been running a retail brand that boasts a quirky and colorful selection of furniture, textiles, antiques and accessories. In this new to-the-trade showroom, the duo caters exclusively to their top clientele: interior designers. “Over the course of this past decade, we have done so much business with designers across the country that would come to us to finish our projects with accessories and our custom pillows,” says Teddie, who serves as creative director. “We realized that we needed to be [dead center] in front of the designers, and that path led us to the Interior Home + Design Center at Dallas Market Center.”
Last summer, the Garrigans found the perfect 4,000-square-foot space for their needs and began building it out within days. Set to open this week during the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market, the outpost will offer the home decor and designer lines their retail brand was built on, as well as new collections and expanded selections across categories. “The general sense of this showroom will be that it is inspiring,” says Teddie. “Whether you’re a designer or a retailer who likes all neutrals or all colors, there’ll be something that someone can say, ‘Oh, my gosh, I can see this working in my type of design.’”
Throughout the showroom, guests can find the brand’s own pillows and lampshades and its newly expanded Coco & Dash Heritage collection, including art, antiques, furniture and vintage accessories. These are displayed alongside new collaborations with Thibaut, Codo & Dash’s colorful velvet Mimi pillows, and limited collections using Jean Monro and Cowtan & Tout textiles, as well as home furnishings and fixtures from brands like Matouk, Fete Home, Jill Seale Design Studio and Lighting New York’s Savoy House.
The duo crafted the location using the same strategy they use in their flagship Coco & Dash retail outpost in Dallas: Center on product, atmosphere and space planning. “We like people to be able to have breathing room when [they] walk in. We never want them to just be hit with a bunch of product,” says Teddie. Upon entry, guests are greeted by two window vignettes set up as sitting rooms with patterned wallpapers by Schumacher and Iksel Decorative Arts (the rest of the showroom is adorned in a Thibaut grasscloth). Elsewhere, special displays for vendors such as Pooky Lighting, Fleur Home and R. Lusk Studios are sectioned off within the showroom’s open format.
The showstopper is a 12-by-12-foot tent in the middle of the space that exudes the color and excitement that is the hallmark of Coco & Dash. Custom-made with floral printed fabrics in reds, greens and pinks, the tent will be the setting for designer programming, from educational talks and book signings to workshops and trunk shows. “It’s going to be a place for designers to be inspired and learn—and even address issues that we have within the industry,” says Teddie.
With all these exciting new initiatives, Coco & Dash is ready to deliver for the designer community in Dallas and beyond. “We have listened to our customers and our clients. … They want color, they want some joy in their lives, and they want this relaxed sophistication, which is really what we’re known for,” says Teddie. “When I look at this showroom, that’s what comes back to me—the work that we have put in the last 10 years of developing our own brand and our own unique look.” 2000 N.
