The Educational Foundation of the International Furnishings and Design Association (IFDA) and Cliff Young Ltd. invite undergrads to participate in the Contemporary-Modern Furniture Student Design Competition. Open to students enrolled at an accredited college, university or art school who have completed at least one semester of design course work, the contest asks entrants to create “a classic piece of modern furniture” with “classical references, clean design, sophisticated details, innovative combinations of finishes, textures, materials.” It seeks “hip and edgy, warm and organic” furniture that embodies “comfort, timeless simplicity (not minimal), functionality, aesthetics within a modern lifestyle.”

Winners will receive $3,000 and a trip to New York to attend the awards ceremony at the New York Design Center’s What’s New, What’s Next Gala in September 2017. Learn more.
