With actor-activist Brooke Shields hosting, this year’s Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons (ARF) summer gala will honor architect Peter Marino for his contributions and advocacy. The annual Bow Wow Meow Ball will be held on August 15 at the ARF Adoption Center's Wainscott location, with dinner, dancing and an after-party for 400 guests set to music by the Peter Duchin Orchestra. All of the evening's proceeds will benefit ARF, which rescues animals from animal control centers and puppy mills as well as from people who can no longer care for their pets. ARF takes in more than 1,000 dogs and cats yearly, providing them with veterinary care, food, bathing and grooming services, spaying and neutering services, shelter and humane care.

Architect Marino, who has long supported ARF, is also known for his work with private clients and with high-end retailers including Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Bulgari, Ermenegildo Zegna, Fendi, Graff, Guerlain and Hublot via his eponymous architecture-planning-design firm. He will receive the ARF Champion of Animals Award, presented by current board members Katharine and William P. Rayner. “It’s a wonderful way to bring together our supporters and help raise funds for ARF while having fun,” says ARF Board President Lisa McCarthy. “This year’s event is truly a celebration as we honor Peter Marino, who has helped ARF become what it is today: one of the leading animal shelters on Long Island.”

The fundraiser will also include a live auction led by Benjamin Doller of Sotheby’s, as well as a silent auction and an online auction with Charitybuzz.com. Some of the items and experiences up for bid include a golf lesson at Maidstone Golf Club, a vacation package at the Ritz Carlton, St. Thomas, and a New York Knicks package, which features a meet and greet with Knicks players and a private pre-game warm-up on the court. Bidders will have the chance to bid online from August 5 to 26 online.
