Business of Home and Dallas Market Center are joining forces to bring you the Business Accelerator Series, a new designer experience focused on developing the tools, strategies and confidence essential to building stronger, more intentional businesses. The first session in this four-part series investigates the stage where every successful project begins: winning the job. Through a combination of designer panels moderated by BOH editor in chief Kaitlin Petersen and workshops from top business coaches, these half-day programs unpack what it really means to land the right clients, not just more of them. From optimizing digital tools and polishing your online presence to mastering the initial consultation (and deciding whether you should charge for it), the sessions explore the systems and strategies that draw aligned clients to your doorstep. Bring your notebook—or your laptop—and come ready to learn: You’ll leave with a sharper understanding of how to position your firm, convey your value, and set the stage for successful client relationships.

Session 1: The First Impression
Renee Bush, principal strategist and founder of Tandem, examines how a designer’s online presence shapes client perception before the first conversation.

Session 2: Positioning with Purpose
BOH editor in chief Kaitlin Petersen and designers Bryan and Mike Yates of Yates Desygn, Javier Burkle of Burkle Creative, and Jean Liu of Jean Liu Design discuss the foundational work necessary to establish a strong, differentiated design business, and explain how a clear vision statement guides decision-making, shapes positioning, and creates consistency across every client touchpoint.

Session 3: From First Contact to Signed Contract
Petersen and designer Arianne Bellizaire of Arianne Bellizaire Interiors chat about how the earliest interactions with a prospective client set the tone for everything that follows. Bellizaire shares how she structures her intake process to gather better information, determine value, manage expectations, and confidently decide whether a project is the right fit.

Session 4: The Power of Alignment
Not every inquiry deserves a yes. In this session, strategist and founder of 19th&Co. Christine Woodward breaks down what “the right client” actually means for your business—and how to attract them with intention.
