To celebrate Women’s History Month, the New York Design Center launched its inaugural Women in Design event on March 13, welcoming the tristate design community to a series of stimulating conversations and sourcing opportunities.
The daylong event showcased the many female-owned, designed and influenced showrooms in the building, inviting the more than 400 attendees to shop participating locations. Curated programming throughout the afternoon explored the impact of women in the business. Industry trailblazers on these insightful panels included Dara Caponigro, Jill Cohen, Melanie Dunea, Kesha Franklin, Brittany Hart, Young Huh, Julia Noran Johnston, NeKeia McSwain, Sarah Medford, Amy Meier, June Reese, Erica Samuels, Gale Singer, Jacqueline Terrebonne and Keita Turner.
In conjunction with the event, the NYDC introduced a series of Women in Design dedicated newsletters, along with more than 40 compelling editorial features spotlighting the accomplishments and contributions of the women at 200 Lex.
“We were thrilled with the success of our inaugural Women in Design event—an event we hope will become a staple for the design community,” said Alix Lerman, chief marketing officer at the NYDC. “We not only celebrated the diverse female talent within our walls, but also paved the way for meaningful conversations and connections. From engaging panels and a showcase of our female-owned showrooms to our editorial features amplifying the voices and achievements of these remarkable pioneers, every aspect of the day was dedicated to honoring the women of 200 Lex.”
