On May 18, as part of NYCxDesign, architect, designer and art curator Lauren Rottet hosted an event at the Rottet Collection showroom on West 30th Street to highlight new product designs and creative partnerships. The follow-up to an equally collaborative gathering at Milan Design Week 2025, “Weaving the World” was an opportunity for Rottet to reflect upon her recent experience in Italy and describe how she and her industry colleagues are fostering harmony stateside through art and design.
Guests from across the city’s diverse spectrum of design sectors flocked to the launch, among them several members of the International Interior Design Association, including Christin Weaver, president of the New York chapter. Principal at Studios Architecture Todd DeGarmo, general manager of Ege Carpets Americas Alex Lerian, and founding architect at Messana O’Rorke Brian Messana were also in attendance.
“Following its debut in Milan, I enjoyed sharing ‘Weaving the World’ with a wonderful group of designers, makers and collectors during New York design week,” said Rottet. “We select Rottet Collection makers from around the globe based on their particular expertise, their integrity, and our previous experience working together. It’s satisfying to understand the natural resources, skills, nuances and talents that come from different regions, then to play a role in uplifting those with special aptitudes. The quality and intention of the work is ultimately what matters.”
