We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Interior Designer with strong experience and architectural understanding to join our dynamic team. Leading and managing the design process for a variety of high-end interior projects, the Senior Designer will not only monitor and review the work of their design team, but also be responsible for both reporting any issues or concerns to our Principal and Studio Director and ensuring design intent by working with the project architect and consultants in the projects' construction phase. This is an in-office position in the Presidio of San Francisco, though our projects are nationwide. Regular travel will be necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Interior Design:
o Lead projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to the project timeline, budget, and quality standards
o Conduct research, stay updated on and share industry trends, materials, and finishes to ensure the design solutions are innovative and up to date
o Create comprehensive design schemes and furniture plans for all spaces including specification of textiles, furnishings, tile, plumbing, etc
o Independently review architectural plans and anticipate/identify potential architectural adjustments, concerns or impacts on design
o Review and adjust interior drawings as needed such as cabinet shops
- Project Management:
o Articulate design concepts and ideas effectively to both Principal and clients
o Develop and manage project schedules, including task assignments, related consultants, and deadlines for multiple projects
o Oversee the customization process of upholstery, window treatment fabrication and furniture lines with an understanding of all related materials and their appropriate uses, trade-offs in terms of durability, price-points, etc
o Coordinate and collaborate with architects, contractors, and vendors to ensure smooth project execution
o Regular site visits ensuring design intent and integrity of work
- Leadership: Inspire/Guide design team
Requirements:
o 7+ years of relevant design experience illustrated through a strong portfolio showcasing projects at various stages of the design process including construction and design details.
o Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a related field is a plus, but not required.
o Strong proficiency in design and rendering software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, or Adobe Creative Suite.
o Comprehensive understanding of architectural drawings and the construction process.
o Extensive knowledge of construction materials [tiles, stone slabs, paint, etc.] including all major brands of plumbing fixtures, appliances, lighting, fabric, wallpaper, carpet, etc.
o Extensive knowledge of appropriate sources such as fabric and furniture lines.
o Familiarity with antiques and sourcing.
o Attention to detail and a strong sense of the PWID aesthetic.
o Efficient and effective communication and presentation skills.
o Strong collaborative and leadership skills.
o Exceptional organizational and critical thinking skills.
o Flexibility to travel as needed – often for a few days/month.
o Strong work ethic shown through punctuality, dedication, and reliability.
o Positive attitude and open mind.
