High-end residential design firm located in New York is seeking a full time Senior Interior Designer/Project Manager with a minimum of 7 years’ experience to manage multiple projects from conception through installation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background and understanding of fine art & antiques, fabric, and custom fabrication. Excellent project management skills and experience with construction management is required. Our firm specializes in creating long-term relationships with clients, which includes the ongoing maintenance of estates and properties, and the privacy of our clients is a top priority. The position offers a good opportunity for growth in a small but expanding firm.
Responsibilities include:
-Orchestrate the design and management of projects from beginning through completion
-Create and maintain budgets throughout the span of projects, oversee client billing
-Create and manage schedules for all materials and finishes associated with projects
-Create plans for furniture, lighting, and elevations through CAD and/or hand drawing
-Attend all project meetings with architects, construction, and design team
-Communicate efficiently and delegate as needed with other members of the design team and Principal
- Role will include Project management, design, planning, budgeting, presentations, construction administration, reporting project status, assuring the quality and accuracy of each project.
-Perform other design duties as requested by Principal
BFA or Master’s degree in Interior Design
- Minimum of seven years professional working experience in high-end residential interior design firm with full cycle project management, beginning to completion
- Extensive knowledge of New York Trade resources
- Ability to present and communicate with high-profile clients
- Experience with custom cabinetry/millwork design and detailing, bespoke design work and specialty workrooms for custom made items such as upholstery and metal work
- Ability to work with artisans and vendors to create custom furniture, lighting, window treatments, decorative finished and wall treatments
- High-end construction experience
- Experience creating architectural lighting design specifications
- Superior interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with both team members and with high-end clients
-Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, CAD, Studio Designer, hand drawing/sketching, and software for client presentations
-Highly detailed and goal-oriented with the ability to work on multiple projects
- Able to travel to project sites as needed in the US & internationally
- Enjoys working in a fast paced, small office environment
