Senior Designer
Company: Madelynn Hudson Interiors
Duration: Full-time
Date Posted: 04/27/26
Category: Interior Design
Location: Brooklyn
Salary: 50-100k
Job Description

MHI is a Brooklyn-based interior design studio known for highly tailored design work with a classic sensibility and a modern point of view. Our current projects span full-scope renovations, new construction, and commercial interiors across New York, Texas, Kansas, Connecticut and Washington, and are defined by a deep commitment to quality, a love of custom details, specialty vintage, and an approach to design that is as considered in its details as it is in its overall vision.
As the studio grows, we are looking for a Senior Designer to join our team as a key creative and project leader.

This is a full-time senior position with real ownership. You will lead projects from initial concept through installation, manage client relationships, develop custom designs, and play an active role in shaping the design direction and execution quality of the studio. You will work closely with the principal and Lead Designer, and will be expected to mentor and support a small team of intermediate and junior designers.

Job Requirements

What You'll Do:
Lead design development across multiple residential and commercial projects simultaneously, from concept through installation
Drive custom furniture design and millwork development, working closely with makers, fabricators, and artisans
Source and integrate specialty vintage and antique pieces
Produce, redline and oversee detailed drawing sets, elevations, specifications, and interior architectural documentation
Manage client relationships with confidence, warmth, and clarity
Coordinate with architects, contractors, and consultants across all project phases
Oversee assigned projects procurement, custom furniture POs, vendor relationships, and all installation logistics
Mentor and support intermediate and junior designers on the team

What We're Looking For:
6+ years of interior design experience with demonstrated project leadership from concept through installation
A strong and refined design sensibility - you understand proportion, materiality, and translating the studio's aesthetic into reality
Hands-on experience with custom furniture and millwork design, and established relationships with fabricators and vendors
A genuine love of vintage and antique sourcing, and an eye for the piece that makes a room
Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential; SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and Studio Designer experience preferred
Thorough knowledge of construction documentation
Experience working independently with clients
NYC construction and contractor experience strongly preferred
A collaborative, low-ego approach — culture matters as much as craft here

Compensation & Benefits:
Salary commensurate with experience: range $85k–$100k
Discretionary year-end bonus after one year
15 days PTO, summer hours memorial day through labor day
