Jae Joo Designs is a residential interior design studio based in Soho, NYC with projects around the world. Our work begins with how a space should feel. We focus on bringing old and new into a natural dialogue, creating homes with a sense of history, an individual point of view, and a lasting connection to the people who live in them.

We’re seeking a highly organized, resourceful, and thoughtful designer with 3+ years of experience to work closely with the principal designer. You’ll take ownership of projects from concept through installation, managing the details and coordination at every stage. The role calls for strong technical skills, a keen eye for design, and an equally strong commitment to client service, someone who communicates promptly and resolves challenges with care and sound judgment.

The role

*Produce and update plans, elevations, and detailed drawings for interiors, cabinetry, custom furniture, and artwork, translating the principal designer’s ideas into clear instructions for execution.
*Source fabrics, finishes, furniture, lighting in person and online.
*Attend site visits, verify measurements, and document decisions and follow-up items.
*Assist in reviewing shop drawings, samples, and custom orders for accuracy and alignment with the design.
*Maintain organized records of pricing, specifications, availability, budgets, and schedules; track orders through delivery and flag changes or delays promptly.
*Manage professional client correspondence and follow outstanding questions and tasks through completion.
*Prepare client presentations, furniture mock-ups, proposals, and purchase orders.
*Organize the materials library and coordinate sample pickups, deliveries, and installation logistics.
*Assist with installations, final styling, and any remaining adjustments.

*3+ years of experience in high-end residential interior design or interior architecture.
*Availability for a full-time, in-office role at our Soho studio; candidates must be based in or within commuting distance of New York City.
*Strong technical drafting skills, including detailed drawings and quick hand sketches.
*Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit, with proficiency in 3D modeling using Rhino and SketchUp.
*A practical understanding of interior construction and custom furniture fabrication.
*Excellent organization and the ability to manage multiple projects, anticipate next steps, and meet deadlines.
*A discerning eye for color, proportion, fabrics, materials, and detail, with sensitivity to the studio’s creative direction.
*Clear verbal and written communication, with a thoughtful, responsive approach to client service.
*Resourcefulness and sound judgment when addressing challenges or shifting priorities.
*Accurate, consistent time tracking and recordkeeping for each project.
