Job Description

We are seeking a talented and motivated Junior to Intermediate Interior Designer to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with the Principal on a wide range of interior design and renovation projects, from early concept development through final installation. The ideal candidate is creative, highly organized, proactive, and eager to grow within a fast-paced professional environment.
This position requires strong design judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to balance design responsibilities with project coordination and administrative support.

Key Responsibilities
- Design & Drafting Support
- Assist in the development of interior design concepts, furniture plans, layouts, and production drawings used for presentations, schematic design, and project execution.
- Ensure all drawings and documents are accurate, properly dated, and filed according to office standards.
- Submit design work to the Principal for review before sharing with clients or vendors.
- Implement design revisions efficiently and communicate updates clearly across the project team.

Vendor & Material Coordination
- Liaise with vendors to request quotes, gather samples, and research new products, fabrics, finishes, lighting, and furnishings.
- Support sourcing efforts through showroom visits and maintaining an organized sample library.
- Follow up on open orders to confirm delivery schedules as installations approach.

Project & Installation Support
- Assist with placing orders, coordinating deliveries, and supporting installations while ensuring design intent is maintained.
- Communicate project progress updates at internal meetings and help plan deadlines and installation stages.
- Operate with increasing autonomy as a project leader on smaller or individually assigned projects, with oversight from the Principal.

Job Requirements

Administrative & Office Participation
- Maintain organized digital filing systems, ensuring project correspondence and documentation are stored properly.
- Respond to client communication promptly and professionally, keeping the Principal informed when appropriate.
- Track time accurately using office systems, complete daily reporting, and maintain awareness of billable versus non-billable hours.
- Assist in preparing materials for client meetings, including drawings, samples, and vendor quotes.

Growth & Professional Development
- Engage with the design community through events, exhibitions, and vendor relationships, sharing insights with the studio.
- Demonstrate a positive and respectful attitude, contributing to a supportive team culture.

Qualifications
- Degree in Interior Design or a related field.
- 1–4 years of professional experience in an interior design studio environment.
- Full proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Studio, and Microsoft Office Suite (or similar).
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills

This role is an excellent opportunity for a designer to gain hands-on experience working closely with the Principal through all phases of the interior design process.

Brian Jones Studio opened in June 2025 after almost 15 years working for some widely known design firms in NYC. This small practice offers the opportunity to help grow a firm from the ground up. The firm is working on 12 projects in various stages and of various scales, in the tri-state area, with the majority of the work in NYC and the Hamptons.
