Job Description

ROLE DESCRIPTION
Hayes House is seeking a full-time Junior Interior Designer to support our growing residential portfolio. This hybrid role offers work-from-home with site visits in North New Jersey as needed. It’s ideal for an early-career designer eager to build a strong technical foundation, refine their design sensibility, and gain insight into a founder-led studio.

Working closely with the principal designers, you’ll gain hands-on experience across design development, documentation, and project coordination while being mentored through real-world projects at various stages. RESPONSIBILITIES
Design Support
Prepare detailed drawings and renderings using SketchUp (or similar design tools)
Comfortable producing clear, builder-ready drawings and presentation materials
Assist principal designers with finish and material selections based on established design direction
Assist with creating design concepts, material boards, mood boards, and client presentations
Prepare design documentation, visualizations, and technical drawings by creating presentation boards and design plans
Contribute to multiple projects simultaneously, both independently and as part of a project team

Project Coordination Support
Organize and maintain digital project files, samples, product boards, and vendor information
Establish vendor relations and coordinate for pricing, samples, and orders
Assist with tracking orders consisting of design finishes and materials
Must be comfortable traveling to local job sites when needed for managing deliveries, checking orders and participating in contractor walkthroughs.

Administrative & Marketing Support
Conduct administrative tasks related to ongoing projects
Support content gathering for marketing initiatives

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
A degree or coursework in Interior Design or a related field is preferred
Proficiency in SketchUp and Layout (or similar design tools) is required
Strong drafting skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Proficiency in Photoshop, Canva and AI platforms preferred
Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to support a collaborative and growing business
Ability to manage priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
