Caroline Kofol Interiors is seeking a Design Assistant to work closely with our Principal Designer in support of residential projects from concept through completion. We are a small, hands-on studio based in Washington, D.C., and we believe comfort and luxury can intersect beautifully while still meeting the demands of modern living.
This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, self-driven, technically skilled, and eager to learn, with an interest in growing alongside a thoughtful and detail-oriented studio environment.
This is a part-time position (15–20 hours per week) with the potential for full-time. The role is primarily in-person, with flexibility for some remote hours as needed.

Responsibilities
• Support design development including space planning, layouts, and project documentation
• Assist in creating presentations, mood boards, and client-facing materials
• Help manage project logistics, including timelines, purchase orders, client billing, and purchase tracking
• Maintain organized project files, schedules, and studio systems
• Support sourcing and specifications, including coordination of samples and materials
• Communicate with vendors and workrooms; visit workrooms and showrooms as needed
• Help keep the studio running smoothly through day-to-day administrative and operational tasks
• Assist with social media and marketing efforts, as needed
Qualifications
• 2+ years of experience in interior design or a related field preferred (but not required for the right candidate)
• Strong organizational and follow-through skills; able to manage multiple projects at once
• A proactive, positive, and professional presence with clients and vendors
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and an appreciation for high-quality work and thoughtful design
• Comfortable in a boutique studio environment where roles are collaborative and hands-on

Software / Technical Skills
Experience with the following is a must:
• AutoCAD (or similar drafting software)
Experience with the following is preferred:
• SketchUp and/or 3D modeling
• Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop) or Canva for presentations
• Microsoft Office / Google Workspace (especially Excel/Sheets)
• Familiarity with Studio Designer, Design Manager, or similar project management tools is a plus
