Charleston by Design is a four-day fundraising celebration presented by Historic Charleston Foundation to support its mission of preserving and sustaining the architectural, cultural, and community assets of Charleston, South Carolina.
Scheduled for March 12–15, 2026, this signature weekend invites design enthusiasts, preservation advocates, artists, and architects to experience Charleston’s living history through a curated program of lectures, tours, conversations, and social events.
The weekend kicks off with the Opening Night Party at the Aiken-Rhett House Museum c.1820, where guests enjoy creative installations, speakers, and celebrations that underscore the connection between historic preservation and design innovation. Highlights include the Design in Mind Lecture Series, featuring influential voices in design and hosted in landmark venues such as Second Presbyterian Church c.1808 and the Charleston Design District.
In addition to talks and panels, attendees can join themed walking tours, explore private residences in the Home and Design Tour, participate in salon-style dialogues, and experience showroom tours that reveal Charleston’s dynamic design landscape. Special offerings like the Insider’s Pass provide expanded access to events, exclusive receptions, and curated events throughout the weekend.
Proceeds from Charleston by Design directly benefit Historic Charleston Foundation’s work in advocacy, education, stewardship of historic house museums, and preservation programs that protect the city’s unique architectural character.
