SCAD for Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams Work from Home Collection Celebration
Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams and Business of Home hosted an exclusive preview and immersive fireside chat moderated by BOH editor in chief Kaitlin Petersen to celebrate the launch of the brand’s latest collection designed in collaboration with the Savannah College of Art and Design. The special event offered guests the opportunity to hear directly from Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams and SCAD leadership, as well as industry experts, as they discussed the research-driven collaboration and the future of work-from-home in design.
Petersen moderated a conversation with Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams’ president and CEO Allison O’Connor, co-founder Bob Williams and SCAD’s associate chair of furniture design Frederic Spector about the one-of-a-kind collaboration that combines the brand’s storied quality and modern aesthetic with the ingenuity and resourcefulness of up-and-coming student talents. Interior designer Nina Etnier of Float Studio and “queen of startup design” Dani Arps joined the trio to explore what the latest home workspace solutions convey about how we’re living and working now.
“After nearly two years of research and design, it was wonderful to share the collection and see its appeal to interior designers needing fine-quality solutions with great style for their clients,” said O’Connor. “We collaborated with the prestigious furniture design program at SCAD in Georgia, close to our own factories in North Carolina, on a project to define furniture for the new reality of work at home. Focusing on how to unfold the meaning of comfort, the collection melds emotion, function, aesthetic and efficiency into new yet timeless pieces.”
