U.K. luxury textile house Christopher Farr Cloth officially celebrated the opening of its first-ever U.S. showroom on October 14 at the New York Design Center with a lively party that welcomed designers, industry luminaries and top media from across the country.
The new seventh-floor showroom embodies the company’s modernist inspiration with a layout and design by Christopher Farr Cloth creative director Michal Silver, who founded the fabric house 25 years ago. The backdrop to the party was a space bedecked in an array of quilts commissioned by top designers for the brand’s 25th anniversary collection—and several of those designers were present for the experience. With live music, delicious hors d’oeuvres, anniversary cakes, and cocktails inspired by the new fall collection, the celebration was a major design highlight of a busy season.
“It has been my dream to open a showroom in New York,” said Silver. “So many customers have suggested a flagship in America that would replicate the experience in London and enable them to shop the breadth and depth of the collection. Today, our company’s sales here represent 60 percent of total sales, which has increased every year. American designers are such a vital and special part of our brand, so it makes sense to invest in the future. We could not be more excited, particularly in our 25th anniversary year, to have a home at the New York Design Center!”
More than 150 guests packed the showroom, including designers and industry luminaries Robert Rufino, Bryan Dicker, Ann Hulcher Tollett, Scott Yetman, Helene Oberman, Sarah Magness, Alexander D. Wilson and Tom Delavan.
