The winning design from the ASID NY Metro Imagining Textiles Student Design Challenge was upholstered on a Kravet Williams Chair and revealed at a recent party in Kravet’s New York City showroom. The first-place team, Victoria Rouse, Destiny Bates and John Sanchez of New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) and their mentor, Robin Baron, took inspiration from India for their design. Students from NYIT, the New York School of Interior Design, and the School of Visual Arts participated with mentors Etienne Coffinier, Marlaina Teich, Michelle Slovak and Charles Pavarini III. The chair will be auctioned off for charity.
“Through the Kravet Design Grad program, Kravet proves its commitment to supporting the growth and creativity of the future of the industry,” says Ellen Kravet, the company’s executive vice president of marketing. “With Imagining Textiles Student Design Challenge, Kravet was able to offer students the opportunity to cultivate worldly exposure to the unique craft of textile making. Congratulations to the winning team and all of the students who partook in this exciting challenge.”
