International Market Centers and Christopher Guy are collaborating on a new, 20,000-square-foot building in downtown High Point, which will feature two floors and an exterior infinity pool. The project, scheduled to be complete next year, will be on South Hamilton Street, between the Violino and New Classic Home Furnishings showrooms.

“This announcement is significant for the City of High Point, High Point Market and IMC,” says Scott Eckman, executive vice president of marketing and furniture leasing for IMC. “To have a stunning, design-driven resource this close to the heart of the market district, completely new construction, is really remarkable and a continuation of our commitment to market. We have invested $27 million toward its success for the past five years in the form of upgrades to our buildings; this is our first highly visible project. Further, we have an opportunity to partner with one of the most highly regarded designers in the industry on this exclusive property—it’s a true win-win for everyone.”

“Over recent years, with so many changes in our industry, questions were inevitably raised about the future role of the High Point Market,” explains Christopher Guy Harrison, founder Christopher Guy. “Based on our sales, we have little doubt that High Point is, and will remain, the epicenter of the North American furniture industry, and one of our most important showrooms in the Americas. For me to be allowed to design a new CG showroom on such a fabulous site is a rare and extraordinary opportunity and honor, in which we fully share the incredible vision of IMC in their continuous development of the Market.”

The building, which is the first High Point-purchased property in over a decade to be constructed from the ground up, will be overseen by local architect Peter Freeman with Freeman Kennett Architects with the help of local contractors.
