Stars of Design Awards announced at New York's D&D Building

The annual Stars of Design Awards were presented on Wednesday, October 7, at a black tie dinner at the D&D Building's Astra Cafe, recognizing eight individuals for their outstanding contributions to the world of design.

2009 Stars of Design Awards went to: Thomas Britt - Lifetime Achievement Award; Ellie Cullman - Interior Design Award; Costas Kondylis – Architecture Award; Michael Van Valkenburgh – Landscape Design Award; Robert Lee Morris – Jewelry Design Award; Scott Frances – Photography Award; Jessica Helfand – Graphic Design Award; and Hunt Slonem – Art Award.

These individuals were selected by a jury of industry leaders for their work, which represents the highest standards of excellence in their respective fields. "The D&D Building's 2009 Awards are in the finest hands to represent Design in the 21st Century,” said D&D Building CEO Charles S. Cohen.

The dinner was studded with notables including Paige Rense, Geoffrey Bradfield, Sheila Metzner, Tatiana & Campion Platt, Alan Greenberg, Mario Buatta, Urban Karlsson, Juan Montoya, Amanda Nisbet, Ann Rapp, Rita Konig, Phillip Gorrivan, Steven Aronson, Charles Pavarini III, Judy Sheridan, Grace and Chris Meigher, and Michael and Caroline Van Valkenburgh.
