Steven Stolman, president of Scalamandré for the past three years, today announced that he is stepping down from his current role. He cited a desire to spend more time with family in Florida as the primary reason for his decision, along with new opportunities that include the authoring of several more books.

Stolman will continue to consult for Scalamandré on matters of marketing, licensing and new showroom expansion.

“I am so proud of all that we have accomplished over the past three years,” he said. “I am also confident that Scalamandre will continue to enjoy its position as a key resource for the best of the best in the world of interior design. It was truly an honor to be a part of such an extraordinary company.”

During his tenure, Stolman has been credited with reviving and expanding the brand through an aggressive licensing program along with initiating many brand-strengthening strategic alliances. He also authored the book, Scalamandre: Haute Décor which was published by Gibbs Smith last fall and is still enjoying robust sales.

Prior to joining Scalamandre, Stolman served as design director for labels such as Albert Nipon and Jack Rogers. It was his eponymous resort wear collections that received the most attention, specifically for his lighthearted use of decorative fabrics.
