Los Angeles-based designer Reagan Hayes is opening her first-ever New York City showroom at the NYDC featuring furniture inspired by the city itself. At 2,300 square feet, the showroom will open in tandem with "What's New What's Next" on September 19, but Hayes’ latest collection, reflective of the new showroom’s surrounding urban landscape, will premier in a soft launch later this summer.

Hayes spoke with EAL about her influences and inspirations for the new line. “We've got two new pieces—the Louis Table and the Xavier Cocktail Table—that I designed while thinking of New York.  I designed the Louis Table to have the flexibility to scale from a smaller entry or side table up to a dining table that could easily be made to any custom diameter to accommodate any dining space,” says Hayes. “The Xavier Cocktail Table in its all-metal form brings together a nice balance of elegance and edginess that I think is a great match for New York. It's something we can also scale really easily to accommodate different spaces.”

Hayes’ self-described “elegant and edgy” aesthetic will also be on display when the showroom launches with an evening event featuring street artist Bradley Theodore, who will paint a showroom wall live. “I have always had a thing for street art and for artists who are just as comfortable with oil on canvas as they are facing a brick wall,” says Hayes. Theodore “really embodies the type of edgy creativity that goes so well with the clean and classic lines of our furniture pieces.”
